Sule Lamido, former governor of Jigawa state, has warned ex-presiden to Goodluck Jonathan in opposition to contesting for the 2023 presidency at the platform of the ruling party APC.

Some rumours were going on that the former president is making plans on defecting from the PDP to the APC which win him in 2015 election, following calls from some high-profile politicians to join the 2023 presidential.

In an interview with press media, Lamido cautioned that Jonathan risked God’s wrath if he gave in to the calls of APC to dump PDP.

According to him, one of these move will bring self-destruction to the ex-president, Nigerian Tribune reported.

People Democratic Party (PDP), made Goodluck Jonathan known politically:

According to the ex-governor, everything the former president achieved so far in politics is through the support PDP give him.

Lamido stated: “The issue of Jonathan defecting to APC to be their popular-bearer, I hope it is not true, but if it's true, he is inviting self-destruction upon himself."

The former governor claimed that Jonathan would have been nothing if not for the PDP that gave him a platform. He stated the ex-president is being called to carry out functions for the party and world, saying:

"How did he get that type of popularity? It not for PDP. Now, he said to be joining the APC due to greed, to destroy all his good reputations? God will not allow him. If he is going, God will protect PDP. If he refused and go to APC, he will meet up with the wrath of God."

Jonathan should not accept APC lies:

The former governor in addition warned Jonathan against believing the lies of APC, which he described as "advent of lies, cultured by way of lies, maintained with lies." Goodluck Jonathan had lost power to Muhammadu Buhari, after APC won the election in 2015. Buhari will be finished his 2d tenure in 2023 and the struggle over who replaces has already started.

Numbers of high-profile politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have already declared their interest in the upcoming presidential election.
